A brand ID update for the streaming pioneers.
You may not have heard of Rockbot, but you’ve been exposed to it. They provide centralized streaming audio and video serivces to bars, restaurants, gyms, airports, etc. This brand refresh helped contemporize their look to better complement the advanced nature what Rockbot does.
Rockbot came to Walrus with a desire to update a generic startup logo that wasn’t impactful. Walrus developed a dynamic new “Rock-Bot” icon and a bespoke logotype.
Old logo adopted at startup
New logo created in 2021
The new logomark takes the existing monogram which felt more than a little dusty, and transforms it into something more versatile, jettisoning the B for a reflection of the R. The result is decidedly “being-like” which opens up numerous possibilities for injecting the brand across applications.
This being becomes the “bot” in the logo, thus retaining both R and B in spirit. It can be used to add motion and life to the brand especially across digital screens where animations are possible.
Typographically we shifted “ROCKBOT” to lowercase with custom letterforms to imply modernity, sleekness, and user-friendliness.
The letter “r” is tailored to the “o” curve which makes it distinctive. Conjoined letters feel contemporary and less formal.
The palette is also an evolution of the existing one. It still is on the blue side of the spectrum, but moves away from the primary and light blues that have become synonymous with social media over the past decade (twitter, FB, LinkedIn).
